The PTA website will be closing out the 2021-22 school year on June 30th. Emails will be sent when the site is ready for the new school year and when you can join as a PTA member. We appreciate the support of all of our members and strive to provide an incredible experience beyond the classroom for our children.

 

As a reminder, our PTA is run by parent volunteers. If you are interested in becoming involved, please reach out to barlowmountainpta@gmail.com. There's always a way to help out if we know you're interested and you can pick and choose how you help based on your interests and skills.

We strongly encourage you to make your lives easier by purchasing the supply pack which will be waiting in the classroom for your child when they get to school on the first day. If you miss the deadline, the supply list is available at the link above.

Please join the Curran family on Saturday, September 10th to help them raise funds to find a cure for their son, Conner. Conner is one of our own – he is a fifth grader at Barlow Elementary and suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We also have another Barlow student, Teddy White, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a cruel disease that slowly robs kids of their muscle function. Leaving them virtually paralyzed by the time they reach their late twenties. 
 
This diagnosis was devastating for Conner and heartbreaking for the Curran family, but they could not stand by and watch as Conner slowly faded away – they vowed to do everything in their power to fight this disease on every front, so they formed Kindness Over Muscular Dystrophy a 501(c)(3) charity. And there is tremendous HOPE – a cure is close to a reality, but it is just beyond the grasp of the Curran’s and the White’s. The science has advanced significantly in the last few years and researchers are on the cusp of a significant and history making breakthrough.
 
The Barlow community can help bring that cure closer for Conner and Teddy by attending the Kindness Over Muscular Dystrophy benefit on September 10th at Captain Lawrence Brewery in Elmsford NY. Many local restaurants in Westchester and Ridgefield will be donating some of their most delicious food and Captain Lawrence’s beer is outstanding. There are also opportunities to bid on some exciting sports, travel and restaurant experiences!
 
Gather your friends and make a plan to attend! This event is an opportunity to have a lot of fun and do so much good at the same time. You can find out more about Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and purchase tickets here: 
 
Tickets are now being sold at a discounted price of $150.00 until June 17 so get your ticket soon! Prices go up to $175.00 a ticket after June 17th.

Did you know that every school in Ridgefield has a Special Services Representative? 

 

Special Services representatives are eager to support their school community in the following ways:  

  • Help provide information about the special education process and/or additional learning support that might be available to students. 

  • Help direct family members to the right school and community resources. 

  • Offer emotional support to families through informal chats.

  • Provide district special education updates.

 

This is a PTA position, designed to support the needs of all families in the school district, especially those with children receiving special services through an IEP or 504. Special Services Representatives serve their individual school community, as well as attend monthly meetings with the Ridgefield Special Services administration. 

 

As a council with the special services administration, representatives collaborate in the following ways:   

  • Gather program updates from each school and from the special education administration.

  • Discuss special education-specific PTA programming or enrichment.

  • Communicate these updates to the individual schools and families we represent.

 

All families are welcome to contact their Special Services Representative at any time with questions or concerns. We are here to help!

PTA Back-to-School Registration

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year and the BMES PTA Website.

Please create an account to continue.

It's only by creating an account that you can be included in the directory, class lists, and E-blast lists. All users must update their account information every year. Existing users, please sign in to your account and update your family information.

Please access the Family Information Form and add your child's teacher. This is how your classroom volunteer coordinators will know which class your child is in. It is a very important step in setting you up to receive all communications for the year.


 

 

  

The BMES PTA is a partnership between parents and teachers who share a common goal to enrich student programs within the BMES community.

 

Membership in the BMES PTA is $25 per family and $10 for teachers.  

 

Why join the BMES PTA?

  • PTA Member Directory on both the website and through the mobile app.  This is the only way to get contact information for other BMES families.
  • Receiving weekly PTA E-blasts is one of the best ways to stay up to date about upcoming events.
  • Subscribe to the calendar for BMES and RPS important events and dates

 


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

 

 

We love our volunteers and appreciate any amount of time you are able to give. 

 

Interested in being a classroom volunteer coordinator for your child's class? Click the link below as soon as possible and sign up to show your interest. The teachers will be selecting these helpers early in the school year. This is a great way to be connected to the teacher and get informed early of classroom events.

Getting involved in the PTA is a great way to connect with the Barlow Community and Administration. 

 

Every parent can get involved, regardless of how much you know about BMES, and it makes a HUGE difference!  Help make 2021-22 an awesome year for our children and our school.  

  


 

The PTA is excited to bring back Wear It Wednesdays! On the 3rd Wednesday of every month, please have your Barlow Bobcat represent our amazing school community by wearing or using BMES Spirit Wear. Don't worry, if you don't have any specific BMES Spirit Wear, you can have your child wear Barlow colors (Blue and Red). Spirit Wear will be on sale during the year and we will announce the sale dates in the E-Blasts.
