Enchanted Forest Book Fair this year!

 

 

Classes will preview the fair with their teachers on Friday, November 2nd with a second preview Monday, November 5th and Family Night later that evening from 5:30-7:30 PM. On-line sales will be available during Election Day and live sales will continue November 7th and 8th from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and November 9th from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the BMES Atrium.

 

 Please help us make this a fantastic event for encouraging our kids to read and for bringing families together over books! Volunteer opportunities are available below.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we call the Barlow Mountain community to come together in gratitude and generosity. On Thursday, November 1st, we invite BMES students and families to volunteer to make sandwich bags to donate to the Dorothy Day Hospitality House in Danbury. Dorothy Day is a private, non-profit organization that provides community services, including food and shelter, to local residents.
 
This November 1st, we need:

• 15 parent & child volunteer teams to make sandwiches before school at 8:15AM on Thursday, November 1st in the Teachers’ Lounge
• donations of food and supplies

Parents must stay to assist their children in making sandwiches please. Calling All Lunch Buddies!

 

We're looking for parent volunteers to help our KINDERGARTNERS and FIRST GRADERS on the playground and in the cafeteria throughout the entire school year. You will assist the kids as they adapt to the playground, learn how to navigate the lunch line, use their cafe pre-pay numbers and clean up their table. 

 

Volunteers are needed from 12:10 PM – 1:10 PM each day of the week.

You can sign up for the day(s) that work best for you!

School Photo RETAKE Day is October 30th!!

 

Our school photographer, Cassiday Studios, will be back at school on Tuesday, October 30th!  

If your child was absent on the original photo day OR you would like your child to have their picture retaken, please send an email to bmesschoolphotos@gmail.com.  Include in the email your child’s name, grade, teacher and whether this is a retake or due to absence.

 

In addition to individual student retakes we will also be taking the 4th and 5th Grade Orchestra and Band group photos on this day.

 

**PLEASE NOTE: if your child’s picture was taken on the original photo day and you ordered those pictures, you will not be able to return them for retakes.  You can still have retakes done but will have to purchase the retakes if you so choose.**

  2. On the right, select New User > Create Account, and follow the prompts.  

  3. Click Verify my Email and then check your email for a link. The link expires in 2 hours. If you do not receive the email, check your spam folders.

  4. Verify your email.

  5. Log back in and finish the registration process: add your children and contact information, set your directory publish preferences.

  6. Once you're in, you can join the PTA, purchase a directory, volunteer and buy tickets to the Welcome Back Picnic :-)

The BMES PTA is a partnership between parents and teachers who share a common goal to enrich student programs within the BMES Community. Your PTA membership entitles you to vote at PTA meetings and have access to the online Student Directory.

 

We are no longer distributing printed directories to members, although they may be purchased for $5 each. You do not need to be a member to be included in the Directory, but only PTA members will receive access to it.

The BMES PTA Yearbook Committee will be working hard to put together the 2018-2019 Yearbook, which features the friends, fun and experiences your children have had throughout this school year. This is a wonderful keepsake of their days at Barlow Mountain Elementary, and is sure to be a treasure your children will cherish for years to come.  As such, we recommend ordering one yearbook PER CHILD. 

 

Yearbooks need to be ordered and paid for months in advance of their distribution, so we encourage you to order them NOW. The books will be distributed via homerooms in June before the last day of school.
